I can remember
when I was just a little kid, my dad bought me my first guitar. I loved to
strum and sing along with my Dad. I can remember him singing some of those
old country gospel songs, like “When God Comes and Gathers His Jewels” or
“The Soldiers Deck of Cards”. My Dad was a big influence on me and I thank
him for that. I appreciate my Mom for encouraging me. She’d tell me how good
I sang, when I probably didn’t sound so good. When I was teenager, my
brother Chris took me to a Quartet Convention at the Caldwell Auditorium
here in Tyler. I remember hearing the Stamp Quartet sing. J.D. Sumner sang a
note so low I thought the rafters of the Auditorium where caving in. I can
remember saying to myself, some day I would like to sing in a Quartet. Do
you think that the Holy Spirit was trying to tell me something? Every now
and then, as time passed, I would be asked to sing. People would tell me that
I should consider singing gospel music. My lovely wife, who stands by me
still today, would often tell me how Gospel music seemed to fit my voice. As
fate would have it, The Lord gave me a stage to sing on. Some friends of
ours ask my family to visit their Church, First Baptist Church in Gresham
Texas. Brother Roy soon asked me to sing. I’ve been singing Gospel music
ever since. I thank the Lord for this Church; my children were Saved and
Baptized at this Church. I guess the Lord has even more of his work in store
for me. Thanks to Vision Four.
Mission |
You folks that read this, I ask that you pray for this Quartet. It is our
mission to bless someone’s Soul with our songs of praise. We hope that we
will bless your Soul as well. I heard Mark Page tell the audience at one of
our concerts. I can remember just how well those words fit our Mission
concerns. Mark said: “If we could bless one person’s heart and if we could
just sing the right song to help lead someone to except Christ, it would be
worth it all. ”Amen to that! God Bless! |
